Why subtract 10 mm from width and height when measuring windows for vinyl?

Hi everyone! I’m about to order custom frosted vinyl for a few windows at home, and the instructions said to subtract 10 mm from the full width and height of the glass when measuring. That confused me a bit — wouldn’t it be better if the film covered everything edge to edge? Just trying to avoid mistakes before I submit the final dimensions. Any advice?
