Why are 7" tablets popular (over other sizes)?

I have a 7" tablet but was thinking that 8" would be better, however they are not easy to find as most small ones are 7". Samsung does an 8" tablet but I am looking at the lower end of the market as it will not be for daily use, just entertainment while waiting, or when traveling.

Any recommendations for an 8" tablet?

I think they are just more comfortable and portable compared to 10" tablets. Personally I think the iPad mini 7.9" size is perfect! I find the Nexus 7 to be a little too small, the extra 0.9" on the iPad mini really makes a difference. I would highly recommend to get an 8" tablet over the rest. Have you seen any decent Android ones?

Same like me I have a 7" tablet but was thinking that 8" would be better, however they are not easy to find as most small ones are 7". Samsung does.

First of all, we admit that the tablet still cannot become a 100% replacement for an electronic reader precisely because of the dramatically different imaging technologies. E-ink is a technology that is as close as possible to a paper book. It is the most sparing for sight - we see reflected light, to which a person is most evolutionarily adapted. At the same time, any tablet screen is a conventional "light bulb" that loads the eyes much more. Otherwise, 7 inch tablet for readers outperform in almost all respects.
