Laptop:
Current: MacBook Pro 13″ Early 2015 - it’s a lovely little machine. It even smells good! I still don’t like the glossy display surface, but I’ve tried plenty of laptops and nothing really comes close to a MBP.
Old: Fujitsu Lifebook S751 - gave that to my mother. It’s performance is still adequate (i7, 8GB RAM, SSD, 14″ 1600x900 non-PWM display), but the MBP feels soo much snazzier peripherals-wise - display, keyboard, touchpad, sound, system noise, etc. A custom-built, well-supported, unix-based OS is not bad, either. I still use the S751 when I visit my parents and I’ll always remember this adventurous few years we spent together.
Older: IBM Thinkpad T60 (15″ 1400x1050 S-IPS, Core Duo T2400, Radeon X1400, 2GB RAM). I was very young at the time and it costed me an arm and a leg. And I’m not even sory - it was an amazing laptop in every possible way. Many call it “the last true ThinkPad”. Gifted it to a friend with a car service a few years ago and it’s still going strong. I learned to program on it. Hell, I’ve even fought off a thug with it! Beat that, MacBook!
Phone:
Current: Samsung Galaxy S5 - good screen, performance and battery life. I do like the iPhone better, but the S5 is still good enough so that I can’t really justify changing it.
Old: iPhone 4S - it was a great phone. I really liked iOS, and the performance was pretty sharp at the time. I also like its camera better than the much newer Samsung - it does a better job at “pull out and shoot” kind of photos.. which is the only kind of photos I take with a phone, really. Changed it because of laughable battery life with 3G enabled.
Older: Nokia dumbphone with a flashlight - yeah, I caught a later train to smartphonetown.
