Which Is Better Dell or Sony Vaio

I have to purchase a laptop for my self and i want suggestion from Gurus here that which one do they think will be better for me . I will be either going with Dell laptop or Sony Vaio as for some reason i like both of them. Please help me decide that whether i should go with dell or Sony as my budget is around 1000 dollars. Which one is more suitable for me as i am a full time user (it will be used for about 8 hours per day). Which laptop do you think will be better or more suitable for me.

In Dell & Sony Vaio, I think Dell laptop is better one because of its features & specifications. Dell laptop has 10 hours battery life while Sony vaio has 3-4 hours. Dell laptop has Bluetooth & Wi-fi connectivity and HD display.
 
For me it has to be Dell for 2 reason:
1. They always have the latest spec models, and buying a good spec model can future proof it for a few years.
2. The warranty is excellent. Any problems I have had and an engineer was here the following day to fix it.
 
I don't know which one i would get. Both are very good manufacturers. Dell has been doing it for a while. Sony is a technology juggernaut. Both have their pros and cons, and probably have things you'd prefer over the other. I think I would give the slight nod to Sony. That's just one mans humble opinion though.
