Both are good methods but I would prefer blog posting because every article directory has their own Guidelines but when use blog post then you can write content according to your need like promotion content
 
I too prefer Web 2.0.

Compared to Article Submission. You can update your blog everyday with new post which requires less word count than the other. Article sites will have to approve your content before they go alive in their website. Some time it may take more time to get approved. Its not in the blog post case.

As far as Google is concerned, the place you post is important (it has to be relevant to your niche) but the content is much more vital. If you post really useful, interesting articles it doesn't matter so much where they appear: they'll count for more than if you post a load of regurgitated, badly-written crap.

Of course, posting them on your own site means the people searching for them go to your site rather than a third party - and that puts them one less click away from earning you money directly. With that in mind, I'd always prioritise my own sites... but then that's where article directories come in, for syndication (which is different to article submission to content directories).
 
I go for blog posting. For one, it's your own site. You don't have to wait for anyone's say-so to post something. Two, you are the one in charge, so you can post as you wish. Which is good in a way and bad in another. Good in that you choose your content. Bad in there, there being no one to oversee your post, there is a tendency to be a bit of a slack when it comes to content. However, if you treat posting to your own blog like you are posting to a very strict article submission site, you should be alright.
 
Both are the good techniques but Blog Posting will drive better traffic to site.
I prefer Blog Posting because it will get updated itself Via User comments on it and you can also remove spam comments from it.
 
Use both :) it takes time to get a backlink from web directory so i guess blog will give You better results in a shorter time :)
