Which Graphic Design Program Is Best

I am a GIMP man myself. Still have not figured out all its features, but, being a Linux guy, it does what I need it to do in terms of design. Never really used it with any depth on photo's, though.
 
Graphic design software and desktop publishing software are essentially the same thing. The primary difference is that the desktop publishing category includes some consumer level programs not typically considered graphic design software. The best graphic design software programs are those applications used primarily in a professional environment whether that is for in-house graphic design or by freelance graphic designers.
 
Paint.net is a powerful and free tool for your basic graphical editing. For the more advanced graphical editing there's Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, they have a price tag though, and not an all too cheap one either.
