What is keyword density?

It is the measure of occurrence of a particular keyword in the content. In simple words, it is the number of a particular keyword per hundred words.
If we are talking about 1-2% of keyword density in our article. It means our keyword should appear 1-2 times per 100 words.

The preferred keyword density rate varies from search engine to search engine. In general, it is recommended using a keyword density rate in the range of 1-2%. Too much keyword density can cause your site to be tagged as spam.

Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword or keyword phrase is found in your page content amidst all the other content. For example, if you have a Web page with exactly 100 words on it, including all headlines, captions, alt text, and advertising, and you have a keyword phrase that is on the page 3 times, your keyword density is 3%:

A Web crawler can be an Internet bot which systematically browses the internet, typically for the intended purpose of Web indexing. A Web crawler can also be called an Internet spider.

Keyword density tells the percentage of keyword used in a website or in a article. It must be 1% to 2% in a website. Excess usage of keywords would result in lowering down the rank of a website rapidly as it violates the rule if Google algorithms.

According to the site WebConfs.com it states:

The keyword density for a particular keyword defines how many times this keyword is used on a page. Keyword density of 2 to 7 per cent is optimal because everything above this could be regarded as keyword stuffing and everything below this will make your page go down in search results.

Just an FYI, there is a nice thread, in my opinion, located at Moz.com. The Blog it mentions a little more of a rounded view on the subject matter.

In the setting of site design improvement watchword thickness can be utilized as a variable as a part of figuring out if a site page is important to a predetermined keyword or keyword phrase.

Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword or phrase appears on a web page compared to the total number of words on the page. Keyword density should be kept as minimum as possible to avoid google penalisation.
