What is Cloaking?

That is essentially it, when you are serving different pages to the spiders and bots than you are to real users. Though it often goes further than that. Cloaking scripts would typically generate hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of fake pages on the fly which would then redirect back to one of your real pages for real users. However for bots, it would trick them into thinking your site was enormous, and loaded with pages about all sorts of keywords related to your niche.

I will say, this did in fact work like 15 years ago, but for many years now, these types of scripts seldom work at all. It got so bad at one point that Google actually banned one of the more popular products, Search Engine Cloaker from their search results entirely. You could really only find out about it through word of mouth or posts buried away in black hat forums.

Some of the more sophisticated cloaking scripts would also scrape content from the top 10 sites for each search query you supplied to it, then re-assemble this content into pages based on template(s) you created in advance.

Nice to know about the Cloaking i came across this word for the first time and i hope it would not be use full now as google have penguine, panda, and hmming bird and if it finds any fake pages of the site it would surely spam that site i hope that is the black hat method

Cloaking is a black hat technique involves using deceptive technique filehippos which presents the user with a different version of the webpage than that presented to the search engines......

Also known as stealth, a technique used by some Web sites to deliver one page to a search engine for indexing while serving an entirely different page to everyone else.
