What is alexa ranking?

In simple terms, Alexa Traffic Rank is a rough measure of a website's popularity, compared with all of the other sites on the internet, taking into account both the number of visitors and the number of pages viewed on each visit.

Alaxa firm had developed the tool 'alex rank' to rank a website. similar to page rank, woorank, PA, DA, and many other ranking tools. It is however not a standard tool of ranking a website. Nowadays, there is no any tool that could tell exact and genuine rank of a website, traffic on site. They based on some self built programs/algorithms and their preference by users is diverse too.

Alexa Rank is given to a website by Alexa Corporation on the basis of world wide traffic on the site.
As traffic increases on a site then Alexa rank decreases in numbers.

There may be a lot of traffic that is not being taken into consideration.
