What is a No-Follow link?

Nofollow is a value that can be assigned to the rel attribute of an HTML a element to instruct some search engines that the hyperlink should not influence the ranking of the link's target in the search engine's index.
 
No follow is a link attribute that instructs spiders not to crawl the particular backlink on the webpage. Hence these links are never indexed in search engines.
 
Its a link that does not pass link juice , it gets crawled however , i have nofollow links and google crawls them , if you want google to not crawl , use a no index link
 
These are commonly associated with the SEOs these days. No-follow link has done a good job fighting all kind of spammers who don't want to be bothered with following a "dead" or irrelevant links. No-follow link also did a lot of commenting spams, too.
 
Nofollow links attributes do not allow search engine bots to follow link. Moreover google has announced that nofollow links would also be considered but with less impact.
Nofollow link position also matters.top of the page or bottom.
 
When you try to create a back link during SEO process, and the website where u created a back link doesnt allow you to use their platform for back link for any purpose. Then they add a "rel=nofollow" in the anchor tag or hyperlink.
which pass a message to crawler its not a back link its for humans only.

A no follow link is a link that does not count as a point in the page’s favor, does not boost PageRank, and doesn’t help a page’s placement in the SERPs. No follow links get no love. Theirs is a sad and lonely life.
 
A Nofollow link refers to backlinks that tell the search engines to not go any further, hence “no-follow”. By adding the no-follow tag in a backlink, these links don’t transfer link juice. It was originally made to stop spamming in blog posts because users would be able to spam blogs with links back to their site that would transfer link juice.
 
No Follow Link does not count as a point in the page’s favor also they do not boost PageRank. No Follow Link doesn’t help a page’s placement in the SERPs. In other words A no follow link is a link that doesn’t “point” to another site.
 
If you build No-Follow links, then no link juice will pass. But for SEO, you'll take both No-Follow and Do-Follow links.
