What is a Landing Page?

Landing page is a web page which is optimized for particular terms for getting more response from visitors and generating conversions

A landing page, sometimes called a destination page, is the web page that visitors arrive at after they click the link on a search engine results page. A landing page can be the first page of a website that was advertised on the search engine results page, or from one of the natural results from the search query. This page generally displays logical information, usually something that pertains directly to the keywords searched, or has the keywords directly on the page. This can be a transactional or a reference page as well. In pay per click and other paid inclusion campaigns the landing page is considered the place where “the deal is closed” which basically means that visitors decide on the landing page whether they are going to use the service of the web page or not.

Landing page is a web page which is optimized for particular terms for getting more response from visitors and generating conversions. A landing page refers to any Web page that a user arrives at after clicking a hyperlink.

The term is often used when an advertiser is running some paid advertising efforts, such as a Google AdWords campaign, and wants to sent the traffic from it to specific pages that are designed for higher conversions. The though being that the home page of a web site is often too broad and not focused enough on getting a user to convert when they come there looking for something specific. So a landing page is a highly optimized page that tries to entice the user to sign up for something and/or buy something immediately rather than just browse around and leave. Think of it like having sales people making high pressure sales pitches.

In online marketing, a landing page, sometimes known as a "lead capture page" or a "lander", or a "destination page", is a single web page that appears in response to clicking on a search engine optimized search result or an online advertisement. The landing page will usually display directed sales copy that is a logical extension of the advertisement, search result or link. Landing pages are used for lead generation. The actions that a visitor takes on a landing page is what determines an advertiser's conversion rate.

landing page is any web page that a visitor can arrive at or “land” on. However, when discussing landing pages within the realm of marketing and advertising, it’s more common to refer to a landing page as being a standalone web page distinct from your main website that has been designed for a single focused objective.
