What Are The Main Differences Of Facebook And Google Plus?

I don't really use any of these that much, but from what I can tell, the only real difference between Facebook and Google Plus is that G+ doesn't have relationship status updates. Besides that, they seem to pretty much have the same function like the Like button on Facebook and the +1 button on Google serves pretty much the same purpose. Also, I think Google Plus has a more serious tone to it, with regards to the general atmosphere of it and the content that gets passed around, am I just imagining this?

A big difference between Google+ and Facebook is that Facebook requires you to be friends with somebody to follow their posts. The other person has to approve of the friendship too before. Google+ does not require you to be friends and does not require the other person to approve of any friendship. Anybody can follow your posts on Google+ and anybody can add you to their circles. You would have to add them back to follow their posts, but they can follow you if they choose to add you to their circles. This is for personal profiles and business pages.

Another difference is that Facebook is aggressively trying to create revenue. I recently learned that if you want to send someone a message who isn't a friend, Facebook will charge you a dollar. If you don't want to pay the dollar, then the message goes into their "other" box. I find this to be so ridiculous!

Despite the differences given above almost everything is same in these two social sites. But in case of users, traffic and influence, Facebook is far ahead of Google plus.

On social networks, privacy is an important issue – especially the need to interact with specific sets of people. For instance you may want to share your Saturday night exploits with your friends, but definitely not with your boss or your clients. Facebook does this with lists while Google+ uses a feature called circles. Users can drag contacts into circles that represent friends, work, weekend cricket group or whatever they choose to name the circle. Google claims this experience is easier and better than Facebook's lists.
