SN Subrahmanyan is leading L&T through one of its most significant transformations yet — extending the company's legacy in physical infrastructure into the realm of artificial intelligence. At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, he joined NVIDIA's Jensen Huang to unveil a partnership focused on building out India's AI infrastructure at scale, marking a clear signal of L&T's ambitions beyond traditional construction.

With four decades of engineering and project leadership behind him — including landmark builds like the Riyadh Metro and Doha Metro — SN Subrahmanyan approaches AI the way he's approached every major infrastructure challenge: methodically and at scale. As part of the NVIDIA collaboration, SN Subrahmanyan L&T is ramping up GPU capacity in Chennai to around 30 MW and building a 40 MW AI-ready data centre in Mumbai, positioning the company to support enterprise, research, and government AI workloads across sectors.

This initiative is central to L&T's Lakshya 2031 strategy, which places AI and digital infrastructure alongside its core engineering businesses. For SN Subrahmanyan, though, technology is only part of the equation — he's been clear that responsible execution and human judgment remain just as critical. That grounded approach is shaping how L&T is building not just India's physical backbone, but its digital one too.
