SEO Don’ts: Add Yours

What are the SEO don't you think webmasters should avoid? My 2 cents are these:

1. Deceptive Title
Whatever the title promises, the content should delivers. You’ll lose trust and credibility if you fail to do this.

2. Keyword Stuffing
Avoid keyword stuffing during onpage and offpage optimization. Diversify your keywords with synonyms and words that are semantically related to your main keywords. Search engines have evolved to appreciate this strategy.

3. Un-optimized images
Since search engines cannot read the content of images, you can help them by optimizing the images. This can be done by using your keywords in the image URL, alt and title tags.

4. Un-Optimized page title
The words in the title of a page have a lot of ranking weight. So don’t just publish untitled pages. Include your main keyword in the title. Since the content of the title page will appear in search engine result, it should be descriptive and summarize the content of the page.

5. Spam links
Don’t link out to spam sites (sites that disobey search engine guidelines) and don’t get links from them. Google have started penalizing sites that have a lot of spam backlinks. They call it unnatural link profile. They created a disavow tool that will help webmasters to discount links that they consider as spam.

These tips is just a tip on the iceberg, so add yours.

A good SEO strategy involves following only the highly recommended, fully legitimate steps and staying away from activities that adversely affect your search engine rankings or worse, that can get your website blocked.

Don't cross post the same things to all the social media networks. Make sure you are posting unique content to each of the networks, to avoid duplicate content issues with Google.

Don't forget to continuously test page load times, as this is an important factor to Google rankings as well, even with Paid Search landing pages.

Don't use article spinners for your content. The grammar on these make your content unreadable.
