Print Screen key is a useful key supported on most PCs. In DOS, pressing the Print Screen key causes the computer to send whatever images and text are currently on the display screen to the printer. Some graphics programs, including Windows, use the Print Screen key to obtain screen captures.

Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 have snipping tool to take and edit screenshots effectively and thus nowadays I use print screen very rarely.

It's one of the most important keys and plays an important role in my job. It would have been difficult to take screenshots otherwise.

I also use print screen key often and there are also some tools that you can use to print screen like jing and faststone.

I use OneNote, so I really don't use the print screen button either. I wouldn't mind being able to re-map it to something else.

Apart form abouve mentioned tips on taking print of the screen, I would rather suggest to get a free software called "Apowersoft", which will not only help you take still screen shots in .jpg format but also to record screen.

Sorry I don't have the link right now but I am sure that you will find it easily on the web.

Thanks for giving this information as I not knew it till now.

This is rather embarrassing, but I had NO idea that you could print text from your printer by pressing the Print Screen key, I thought it only took a screen capture of your screen!

I love that print screen key. I always use it, then crop the image in mspaint. The snipping tool is also useful but if you're in fullscreen mode then prtscn does the job. Does anyone use the buttons next to it i.e. scroll lock and pause / break? The only times i hit those is when i aim for print screen button and accidentally hit those instead!

These are a shortcut or abbreviated as Prtscrn, Prt Scrn, Prsc. the print screen key is key on most computer keyboards. When pressed, the key either sends the current screen image to the computer printer depending on the software program or operating system that is currently active.
