I have an account in pinterest and enjoy clicking those images and uploading mine too. Yes this website really help in increasing visitors to our respective website.Pinterest is also a good resource to drive traffic on the site through sharing product images, follow others & re-pin their images then they will follow you & pin your images on their boards.
I don't really think Pinterest is worth it unless you have a website dedicated to photography, or sharing photos. Chances are, the people on Pinterest who are interested in your pictures will not visit your blog about your daily life. They want more of what they see, and that is pictures. Other than advertising your photography blog or website, there's really nothing else you can do other than link your other blogs and websites on your photography page.

My blogs are not dedicated to photography and the one is about daily life adventures but Pinterest is one of my top traffic sources. I don't take a ton of pictures and post them, but my daily life blog is a parenting blog so I take pictures of the things we do or the recipes I create and they do get repinned. I haven't even been that active there and it brings me more traffic then other social sites. Google is my top traffic source and then Pinterest followed by everything else. I guess when you have a delicious looking recipe or a cool kids craft, people want to read more about it.
It isn't the best for Internet Marketing tho, but don't underestimate Pinterest. If they like what they see, they will visit your blog or site to see more about it.
Oh. This is good news. Now, if you dont post a ton of pictures, then, may I ask how do you post at Pinterest? As far as I know, Pinterest needs a Photo to be osted which might be linked to the content page. So do you follow this? I mean, even if your blog posts may not have a picture on them, do you use some stock photo or even your own and post it to Pinterest and link it to the page?
You do have to have a photo to post, but you don't have to have a photography blog. I don't add a photo to every post but I also don't pin every post either. When I pin a picture from my blog, I only pin photos that I personally took. A photography blog would be one that specializes in pictures and may or may not have other content. My blog is about daily adventures of being a mom so if I cook a good dinner that I want to share, I take a picture and add it along with a recipe. When we went to the Crayola Factory, I took
pictures and posted about our experience. If I do a post about taking kids to the river, I take a picture and add it to the post.
As you can see it doesn't specialize in photography, I just use a picture to add to the post for the visual. If a blog is about Internet Marketing, it probably won't do well tho because it won't be an interesting or pretty picture for people to want to click over to the blog. But if you have a cool or pretty picture that goes well with a blog post, add it and it may do well on Pinterest.
I don't pin that many of my posts and I try to pin others equally if not more. This has helped as people often return the favor. Another thing to note is that Pinterest has a little button to add to your browser so if a reader has that button and likes a picture from your site, they can pin it even tho you did not. But it will add the credit to your site once they pin it.
