Next Microsoft Operating System

Microsoft is working hard on windows operating system to fulfill the today's need and demand. In this process, windows 8 incorporate many new things and technology which are really good and easy to use. What should we expect from microsoft operation system in the near future?

I have heard negative remarks about the new Windows OS. I am happy with my Windows XP and Windows 7 systems. One is desktop and other is laptop. I do not think that unless our apps need the upgraded Windows version, it should be there! There are already so many versions of Windows since last few years, and most have become obsolete in just few years or even months. I would really see how the new OS functions over at least 2 years, and then will think of upgrading it, and that too if it suits my work.

Well if Microsoft continues their tried and tested method than this OS is going to tank in comparison to the improvements the Windows 7 OS has brought to us.

if you observe the windows releases you will notice that after every commercial and critical success Microsoft has they issue an underdeveloped and overvalued OS.I guess it is their money making scheme without much business integrity, but I hope I am wrong...

I don't think we are really expecting anything from Microsoft! :p

Its because of this one thing that still, people are not much friendly with Windows 8 or Metro style. It is obvious for Microsoft to launch next OS in the same context.

So, if at all, any new OS comes from Microsoft, it will be touch based and will be on Metro platform. So, I think, first Windows 8 should be tested for its customer satisfaction level, so as to get the new product development strategy!

There will be no new Windows in the "near" future lol
They will focus on improving windows 8 until some new gamechanger comes in the computer world.
Then they will start building up a new system that will suit those technologies.

That depends on what you define as the near future. If you consider the next 5 years as the near future, then there is every possibility that there will be some revolutionary developments in technology which would obsolete the existing environment which Windows 8 resides in. Windows 8 is basically built for mobile computing with touch screens. Voice-activated devices are no longer figments of science fiction. There are already devices which operate with voice commands. One outstanding example is Google Glass. So within the next 5 years, voice-activated computers are not really in the realm of fantasy. The next Windows could be built on this voice-activated platform.

I think people will be shifting from Windows soon. There are now many open source operating systems that offer several capabilities that Windows does not. I think Windows should come up with some pretty cool OS if they want to maintain their customer base.

They had better get their act together no matter what they are doing, because Google is gaining on them big time. They can't afford to have another flop like Windows 8, when Android is becoming as big as it is. There are already Android powered desktops starting to become available to consumers, and the laptops have been around for a couple of years now.

It's hard to say what their next move will be, since they don't even have a head of the company currently.

For once I agree that Linux has a real shot right now. Windows 8 is trash, yet the last install of Ubuntu I did was great. Free, had everything I needed on it and it's easy. It even looks good! I love Windows, but only the decent OS's. 7, XP etc.

I believe they will tell us in four months time at a conference in April. It is claimed that they are working on a project called 'threshold' and it will most likely be windows 9, or at least 8.2. No ideas about features yet so we will just have to wait and see ...

I think all are rumors, I heard from someone that Microsoft is going to release windows blue in 2014 but on Microsoft Blog there is no such news, One more thing we should talk about absolutely new OS from Microsoft not about the updates like Windows8.1 is an update of Windows 8.
