Nervous about my first psychiatric appointment in Boca Raton. What is it actually like?

I finally scheduled my first appointment with a psychiatrist in Boca Raton after putting it off for quite a while. Now that the appointment is getting closer, I'm starting to feel anxious about what to expect.

I've never seen a psychiatrist before, so I don't really know how the first visit usually goes. Do they spend most of the time asking questions about your background and symptoms, or is it more of a conversation about what brought you in? I'm also wondering how detailed I should be when talking about things that have been bothering me over the past year.

Part of my concern is that I don't know what information I should prepare beforehand. I've had periods of anxiety and trouble concentrating, but I haven't kept any formal records or notes. I'm worried I'll forget important details once I'm sitting in the office.

For anyone who has had a first psychiatric appointment in the Boca Raton area, was there anything that surprised you about the process? Did you feel like you had enough time to explain your concerns? Any advice on how to prepare would be really helpful.

I'd appreciate hearing about real experiences so I can go into the appointment with a better idea of what to expect.
