My VCF file contains too many contacts. Is there a way to separate them easily?

I have a vCard file with a huge number of contacts collected over the years. Managing the complete file is becoming difficult, especially when I only need a few contacts at a time. I am looking for a simple method to split the VCF file into separate contact files without doing everything manually.
