Making Use of Old Broken Laptops

Yeah just fix up your laptop and sell it to someone. Just make sure like the other guy said to wipe your drive instead of just formatting it. I suggest selling the entire thing unless it is a popular laptop model, then you should sell parts individually. Good Luck with your old PC's

Where I live, there are many shops that will buy old non working laptops. So before you just give them away, I would check to see if any of the places are buying them. I have also sold them by posting an ad in a local classified section and got $30-$50 each and none were complete. Online auction sites are another good option if you wanna make some cash. You then can get what you are wanting by using the money from the others.

I know, it certainly takes time to do anything these days so I think you should maybe just take your personal information and then give them away to someone else who can still use the laptops.

If you have the time and the knowledge to disassemble a laptop/computer. You could make a nice sum of money from the broken laptops. Maybe it doesn't function properly, but the parts may still be in great shape!
I remember having a laptop, it's screen was broken, but all the other parts were fine and since I didn't use it anymore, I sold the parts and got back 50% the amount I got the laptop.

xHysteria.

You should need knowledge on computer hardware to make experiment with your laptop hardware. If you have a geek friend then approach him for more help. If your are not confident leave it to the service center near by.

Maybe check to see if there is a local Freecycle group in your area and give it away to someone who could use it. Whatever you do, just make sure to properly wipe your data off of the hard drive. If you decide to donate it, make sure it has an operating system installed as the recipient may not be knowledgeable enough to know how to get it up and running.

I've never tried messing with computer parts. I have 3 broken laptops in which I can use. So what do I do, how do I put them together to make one laptop? The laptops are from different companies. One is Dell, on is Sony, and lastly eMachines.

Pull out the RAM, get out all of the other add-on parts, and then sell those on eBay. After you have those out, you can sell the laptop on eBay telling them that it is a good way to build your own computer out of broken parts. :)

Oh definitely! At the very least, you need to know to be grounded and to never touch any board without being grounded or you could have fried the board you touched. Static electricity is horrible on the components on the circuit boards.

If you rip open your laptops, they may become more useless as it wont be easy to use its parts wisely. Best you could use are the hard disks and RAM.
It would be best to sell the laptops as they are or you might try fixing some of them by using other's working parts to get working laptops to sell. That would yield more and it would be fun too.
