As far as convenience, it is a must to have a VERIFIED Paypal account. But it is not necessary. You will have a more difficult time selling something without that Paypal link because people are so used to using it. I know I would not buy anything from an Ebay seller that did not accept Paypal even it was the best deal. Paypal offers consumer protections other methods don't.

I would say yes. You can sell on eBay without PayPal, but it will be very difficult. Most buyers expect to be able to use PayPal and it will seem suspect that you don't accept PayPal.

Paypal is easily the most trusted payment processor even though it sometimes freezes accounts for no reason.

People trust it and it is ridiculously easy to use compared to some other payment services like Liberty Reserve, And Perfect Money because they require exchangers

Most ebay users use paypal, so if you accept paypal as the payment method then you're increasing the chances of receiving a higher bid. I think Paypal should be mandatory for selling products on ebay, because it's bad for business if you don't accept paypal.

If you go back about 10 years, NO. If you are talking about today's eBay, YES. Everyone is going to be paying with PayPal nowadays. It is very hard to come across a person still willing to send a money order or check. The best thing about PayPal is that both the buyer and seller are protected no matter what happens. They do a pretty good job most of the time deciding who wins some cases. Some of the times they don't, but they are getting much better at it. I highly recommend using PayPal.

While it is not required for ebay, I would definitely recommend using it, as it gives you a layer of protection when buying on the internet. These days you can never be too careful.

Not really. But its sure convenient to use it especially because people today has paypal account and wouldn't want to go to a western union branch to pay for what they bought online. I do have a paypal account and I use it to buy things I need particularly for my websites like hosting and domains.

I suggest you to use Paypal because of it's really high security, but there are some other opinions though!
First of all, Paypal is owned by eBay owners and that is why PayPal payments are recommended by eBay.

PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to ours using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available). Once your information reaches the PayPal site, it resides on a server that is heavily guarded both physically and electronically. PayPal servers sit behind an electronic firewall and are not directly connected to the internet, so your private information is available only to authorized computers.

In conclusion, Paypal is very easy and safe payment method everywhere in the web!

Having a verified paypal account is not a requirement although most of the buyers in e-bay are used to this means of payment due to its convenience. Honestly speaking, if you want to be successful in selling items through e-bay having a verified paypal account is next to important because most buyers are cautious about sharing financial information over the internet anyway. Personally, I would be wary if someone dealing on e-bay did not accept paypal payments and decide to go with some other dealer.

I don't believe it is required, but I think you are not allowed to place advantageous promos or discounts for usage of other payment processors. Meaning, if you say that if the customer will pay by direct bank transfer instead of Paypal then they would get a 10% discount, then your account might be penalized or banned. I don't know the exact mechanics of this rule, but I think that's pretty much the gist of it.

Having PayPal is an absolute must if you're an eBay seller. I have been a Power Seller on eBay under three different IDs and have always used PayPal.

It's secure, shipping and other expenses are tied in since eBay owns PayPal so what you do when selling and receiving money gets recorded in your eBay selling interface and on PayPal. Similar to a dual tracking system and backup for payments.

In recent years, eBay have been known to protect buyers over sellers. It can be a tough world for sellers if a buyer claims that they didn't receive an item. If you have PayPal you get seller protection. If you don't have PayPal then you don't, which means that there is not much chance of you solving the case in your favour unfortunately.

PayPal is a quick payment system, whereas a Postal Order for example would take a long time to process and there is no proof for the buyer to say that they sent you it. Buyers don't want to chance it.

PayPal is the way forward, but if you decide not to use it, just be careful :)

PayPal and eBay are the same company and PayPal is pretty much the payment that 99% of people on eBay will imagine using. Just what exactly would you be able to use if you didn't use PayPal though? Obviously you wouldn't get the eBay protection, what else is even an option?
