Is AI actually good at writing code or does it still make too many mistakes?

I've been hearing a lot about using AI like GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT to write code. Some of my developer friends swear by it, but others say it generates buggy or outdated code that you end up spending more time fixing than if you'd just written it yourself. I'm a beginner-intermediate level coder and I'm wondering if it's actually worth incorporating into my workflow. What has your experience been? Does it save time overall or create more headaches?
