Migrating from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 can be stressful when you try to handle everything manually via IMAP synchronization or native migration methods. I recently worked on a migration project for a company moving nearly 80 Google Workspace user accounts to Office 365 because their employees wanted better integration with Outlook, Teams, and Exchange Online. Initially, we tried Microsoft’s built-in migration options, but honestly, the process became very time-consuming. IMAP migration only handled emails and skipped contacts, calendars, Google Drive documents, and other important mailbox data. On top of that, synchronization failures began to occur when larger Gmail mailboxes were involved, especially for accounts over 40 GB. That’s when I switched to the DRS Softech Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 Migration Tool, and the migration became much easier to manage. The utility allowed us to perform bulk mailbox migration for multiple Gmail accounts simultaneously, which saved a huge amount of time. Another useful thing was mailbox mapping because we were migrating departments separately and needed accurate user-to-user mapping between Google Workspace and Exchange Online accounts. The software migrated Gmail emails, contacts, calendars, Google Drive files, and attachments without disturbing the original folder hierarchy or metadata. One of the major reasons businesses migrate from Google Workspace to Office 365 is compatibility with Microsoft applications like Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, and OneDrive. However, manual migration becomes risky when organizations deal with archive mailbox data, shared mailboxes, or public folders. In our case, we also migrated Google Workspace shared departmental mailboxes directly into Office 365 shared mailboxes without issues. The software supported migration with or without attachments, which helped when testing smaller migration batches initially. Another advantage is that the software works independently without requiring Outlook installation. A lot of migration utilities depend heavily on Outlook profiles or PST export/import procedures, which increases complexity and risks of Outlook data file corruption. Moreover, the software is compatible with all versions of Windows, Mac, and Linux OS.
