I really agree with your points you have given to improve the lexa ranking of a website.
 
not sure how relevant alexa is except that people visit it and perceive a good ranking to signify a credible website...you can run an experiment - keep visiting your own website, it's alexa ranking increases...
of course u may try what everyone else has suggested... improve your seo, create links etc.. or run adwords campaigns..more traffic will result in a better rating.
 
If you want to get good alexa ranking then you should submit your website content on low alexa rank niche sites.
