To add a sitemap to your WordPress site, first thing you need to do is install and activate WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin. By default, WordPress SEO does not enable XML sitemap functionality, so you will have to turn it on. To do that go to SEO » XML Sitemaps and check the box to enable XML sitemap functionality.

You can easily do this in a number of manner. Unfortunalty this is the pitfall of cms it loses alot of flexibility when it comes to seo when you are unning your website of themes designed for masses instead of a website coded specifically for yourself.
You could use yoast plunging , link it to your webmaster account and it will submit it automatically ( you however dontt know what is being submitted ) urls like tags and categories may be included which is a waste of googles time and thus defeats the idea of a sitemap as a whole.
You could get a online sitemap generator edit the urls in a text editor and then upload it to your websites root domain, this is not dynamic so you will have to do it whenever you add more pages but you have many more options like this, you then submit the sitemap in google webmaster tools

There is no need to build sitemap for WordPress CMS because when we install seo plugins, it automatically generate sitemap & robots.txt files both.
