Google Penguin

Google launched the Penguin Update in April 2012 to better catch sites deemed to be spamming its search results, in particular those doing so by buying links or obtaining them through link networks designed primarily to boost Google rankings.

When a new Penguin Upgrade is launched, websites that have taken action to get rid of bad hyperlinks such as through the Google disavow links tool or to get rid of junk may restore positions. New websites not formerly captured might get stuck by Penguin.

What is a Penguin Penalty? Penguin was launched to help improve the organic results that Google returns when users submit search queries. Through Penguin, Google began punishing webmasters who were using underhand – or black hat – techniques to get their sites to rank highly.
