Most of the taxes all U.S. citizens must pay such as federal income taxes, state income taxes, sales taxes and property taxes, are also expected from Amish people. Their only main benefit is that if they are self-employed and have filed for a religious exemption, they are not subject to paying Social Security and Medicare taxes. They have this exemption because their religion encourages them to look after their old age themselves and not rely on the government. Some Amish people still have taxes withheld by their bosses if they fail to be exempted.
