I do occasionally buy tickets, but I have no expectation of winning.
So why buy the ticket then?
I think I do it because it is nice to daydream about being the winner. And not ever buying a ticket removes all possibility of that fantasy coming true.
Crazy, I know. But someone has to win, right?
Ok, so why do I then have no expectation of winning?
Well, in the words of Albert King, if it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all.
Knowing I wont win, I still buy the ticket, only for the fantasy value to imagine if I did. Funny how the mind works, isn't it.
