Directory Submission is still an effective technique after Google Panda & Penguin updates.
But Use fresh description every week to increase number of approvals and to get better results from it.
 
Yes this is true but submissions in bulk in every method is strictly prohibited after google panda and penguin so use only good quality directory sites with limited submission.
 
I am agree with you this is also help full now a days. This makes more quality back links. And description should also be changed twice in a week.
 
It's a waste of time to submit to most directories, because most of them are low quality sites that are linking to junk sites. You should be very selective when submitting to directories to maximize your results.

it's still effective but only if you submit on quality ones those directories which have been around for decades its hard to find them but if you search them you will definitely find couple of such directories.
 
Yeah, Directory submission is still effective and As far as I think through directory submission (Not instant Approval directory site) you get a quality back links. As they approve your link after moderation so that is a big benefit for us. You have to carry on directory submission.
 
In directory submission you put your data in different business directory. So different businessmen watch your ad and Google also indexed it. And in this case you get high PR, Traffic and Ranking in Search Engine.

I think directory submissions is still useful. It may not be the only way, and you want to make sure you use quality sites, but if you submit to good directories, the backlinks should help. Personally, I stay away from the sites where you pay for instant / quick approval and go with the free submissions, but mostly because I'm afraid google will figure out which directories let you pay for the submission and hurt your rankings in the future.

I think it is not effective after the penguin 2.1. Google consider very low quality backlinks from Directory, Social Bookmarking and Blog Commenting platform. So, avoid to get backlinks from these platforms and build only relevant and quality backlinks from trusted platform.s
 
Directory submissions is best for the website. Unique and fresh content is best for the website. Backlinks are come on the website after the submit the directories. Build the strong back-link for the website.
