Backlinks should be qualitative not quantitative. It will be beneficial only if the website from where you are getting backlink is relevant to your niche and of high quality.
 
I agree with Bobnelson. Build the some niche specific links and use anchor text with variation. You should build links on internal pages instead of creation lots of backlinks on home page. Also, before creating any backlink you need to check the website's DA, PA and IP address.
