Best time for a trip to Kyiv?

I’m planning my first trip to Kyiv and I’m a bit confused about the seasons. I’ve heard it can get pretty extreme. When is the best time to visit to actually enjoy walking around without freezing or melting? Also, is there a reliable place to check the local seasonal patterns?

From my personal experience, the absolute best time to visit is late May or early June. The city is incredibly green then, and the famous chestnuts are in full bloom—it's stunning! July can be a bit too "sticky" and humid, while winters are beautiful but definitely require some heavy-duty thermal gear.
I’d suggest checking out this weather forecast for Kyiv before you pack. It gives a solid breakdown of what to expect each month. If you go in autumn, aim for late September; the "golden hour" in the local parks is something else. Just bring a light jacket because the evenings get crisp pretty fast!
