Best Autodesk Software for Small Businesses on a Budget

Hey everyone! I just started a small landscaping biz with a couple of friends, and we’re trying to get into designing 3D garden layouts for clients. We’re on a tight budget, so I’m looking at Autodesk stuff since it’s industry-standard. I’ve heard AutoCAD and Revit are good, but no clue which fits us best. Anyone using these for small projects? What’s the cheapest way to get started? Appreciate any tips!

Yo, I feel you on the budget struggle! I run a small interior design gig, and we use AutoCAD for floor plans—it’s super versatile for 2D and even some 3D stuff. For a small team, I’d say go with AutoCAD LT to keep costs down; it’s got everything you need for basic designs. I snagged an autocad license from a reseller, and it’s been legit—full features, no issues. Revit’s great for bigger architectural projects, but it’s overkill if you’re just doing gardens. Check the system requirements too, ‘cause some of these programs are heavy!

Just chiming in here—my cousin’s got a small startup doing custom furniture, and they swear by software that lets them mock up designs quick. They’re always tweaking stuff based on client feedback, so something flexible is key. They ended up training a part-timer to handle the tech side, which saved them a ton of time. Not sure what they use, but it’s cool to see small businesses leveling up with these tools.

For small businesses on a budget, AutoCAD LT is often the best starting point because it provides the core drafting tools without the higher cost of the full AutoCAD package. If you're focused on product design, Fusion is another strong option since it combines CAD, CAM, and collaboration features at a relatively affordable price. The right choice really depends on your workflow and long-term goals. In some cases, businesses find that combining affordable Autodesk tools with custom software development helps them save money by automating repetitive tasks instead of upgrading to more expensive software tiers.
