Benefits of the directory submission?

I haven't noticed any benefits with a directory submission, but I guess it depends on which directory you are using. I looked at the yahoo one which is supposed to be very popular but I couldn't get past all the security questions. If you can find ones that are free and don't ask for too much info then I don't see it as a problem, just takes a few minutes of your time.

Now the benefits of submitting your site to major search engines helps your site to be index and recognized by them.If you put your site to quality directory sites it later helps in increasing traffic, PR of you site.
