301 Redirect :

A way to make one web page redirect the visitor to another page. Whenever you change the web address of a page, apply a 301 redirect to make the old address point to the new one. This ensures that people who have linked to or bookmarked the old address will automatically get to the new one, and search engines can update their index.

Yes 301 redirection is the best method to redirect web site or webpages to another page or site. When we redirect website with the help of 301 its passes 90-99% link juice to redirect domain. And search engine also given the weight-edge when we redirect website with the help of 301.

I was briefly thinking about using this little trick to direct a new domain to my blog, the current domain I have isn't related to the content on my blog so I was looking at buying a new domain and then redirecting it to my current domain. I'm not sure if it will be worth the hassle though, might just keep my current domain and not get a new one.

URL redirection, also called URL forwarding, is a World Wide Web technique for making a web page available under more than one URL address. When a web browser attempts to open a URL that has been redirected, a page with a different URL is opened.

this is a best technology that 301 redirection is the best method to redirect web site or webpages to another page or site it's to ht access file,

It used to be important to make sure you redirected your www subdomain to your main domain, since Google used to treat subdomains as seperate from the main domain. But it's not as big of an issue these days since Google changed their stance on this and now treats subdomains as part of the main domain.

The HTTP response status code 301 Moved Permanently is used for permanent URL redirection, meaning current links or records using the URL that the response is received for should be updated. The new URL should be provided in the Location field included with the response. The 301 redirect is considered a best practice for upgrading users from HTTP to HTTPS.RFC 2616 states that:

If a client has link-editing capabilities, it should update all references to the Request URL.
The response is cachable.
Unless the request method was HEAD, the entity should contain a small hypertext note with a hyperlink to the new URL(s).
If the 301 status code is received in response to a request of any type other than GET or HEAD, the client must ask the user before redirecting.

• The 301 redirect is preferable for both users and search engines.
• 301 indicates to both browsers and search engine bots that the page has moved permanently.
• Search engines interpret this to mean that not only has the page changed location, but that the content—or an updated version of it—can be found at the new URL.
• Passes between 90-99% of link juice (ranking power) to the redirected page.

It is always advisable to use 301 redirect as it refers to permanent redirect of the URL. The main advantage of using 301 redirect is it helps to pass the link juice to the new URL.

A 301 redirect is a permanent redirect which passes between 90-99% of link equity (ranking power) to the redirected page. 301 refers to the HTTP status code for this type of redirect. In most instances, the 301 redirect is the best method for implementing redirects on a website.
