If you are talking about using Facebook to rank in Google then I think you might be in for a bit of a let down. I have only seen Facebook entries in search engines when looking for a specific company, I have never found a Facebook entry by typing in a keyword.

The problem with free backlink checking sites (and I'm not sure if the paid ones don't suffer from this problem either) is that they all seems to give conflicting results. Some say 500 and others say 10. But one that I like to use is opensiteexplorer.org, basically because it is easy.
