Will The Number Of Ads On Your Page Affect Earnings?

I've heard so many myths about Adsense that it's hard to keep track anymore. This one in particular is haunting me a bit though. As of now I have a blog that showcases 3 banner ads from Adsense, and I want to know if I had less of them, would my ads then pay a bit more? Will it increase my CPC?
 
I think it does affect your earnings. If people see that you have 5 or 10 ads on your website, they would most likely exit out of your website, therefore you will not earn anything other than the views on your ads which doesn't pay much. However, if you have 2-3, I think you should be fine as long as the ads are not intrusive. I like the placement of the ads to be on the sidebars or on the top and bottom because it is an effective placement.
