White Background VS Black Background

Hey guys,

Need your thoughts. When browsing websites, what do you prefer\pleasant to the eye\readable\etc? Light or dark background?

In my experience most of the people use light background and then highlight the text so that is is very pleasant to see and readable also.

As per trends seen, most of the the sites wears a light color skin or white.

I go for light background. Because it look pleasant to eyes as well as very attractive.

Some reasons in favour of a dark background:
1. Bright text on dark background is great for night time reading.
2. It's easier to discern brighter colors on black background as white tends to "bleed into" other colors. Hence some coders prefer dark editor themes like monokai or solarized.
3. Using darker themes is anticyclic to the trend of black on white color shemes. Just being different might help with recognizability.
4. Spotify looks great in black.
5. A black screen panel uses less energy. Approx 10%.

Light/ White background is the best choice for most of website but if your website is Gaming/ Computer, I think dark background is the best

Neither too light nor completely dark is what I prefer.
