What's the difference between public and private cord blood banking

When you donate cord blood to a public bank, once processed it is immediately part of the Registry and available to any patient in want of a transplant. There is no cost to you to donate your baby’s cord blood to a public bank.

When you store your baby’s cord blood in a private cord blood bank, you have to pay collection and ongoing storage fees and it is reserved for your use only.

Wow, this forum really does cover every topic! Does this mean we can ask absolutely any question in the world and maybe someone here can answer it? I have a lot of questions but perhaps i'll stick to ict / website questions for now.
