What's the difference between organic vs. paid results?

Those top 10 results in the list below the engine would be the organic result. The paid results would be those placed at the top, side, or sometimes bottom, and they appear to be ads.

organic search results are the ones that appear on the search engine result page, due to its relevance to the search, content quality and website authority.
The paid results on the other hand are the paid spaces on the SERP that buy the preferred and most viewed positions for higher visibility.

Organic search is based on unpaid, natural rankings determined by search engine algorithms, and can be optimized with various SEO practices. In contrast, paid search allows you to pay to have your website displayed on the search engine results page when someone types in specific keywords or phrases.

If you put a keyword in google search bar, or search anything with your voice, you will notice the top 4 results have a small notice with them on which it is return that they are ads, the top 4 results are paid advertisements, and when people click on those paid results, then the google charge the companies who have placed those advertisements there. While if you somehow with Search Engine Optimization bring your website on front page of Google for any search term, and start getting traffic naturally from Google without paying anything, then it is known as organic traffic, it is free of cost.

When a search engine returns its search results, it gives you two types: organic and paid. Organic search results are the Web page listings that most closely match the user's search query based on relevance. Also called “natural” search results, ranking high in the organic results is what SEO is all about.
