Ivermectin Iverheal 12mg was originally developed in the 1970s as a veterinary medication to treat parasitic infections in animals. It was first used to control internal and external parasites in livestock, such as cattle, sheep, and horses. The drug was particularly effective against a range of parasitic worms and ectoparasites like lice, mites, and ticks.

Its discovery stemmed from research aimed at finding effective treatments for parasitic diseases that affect both animals and humans. Ivermectin was derived from a class of compounds called ivermectins, which were produced by a soil bacterium known as Streptomyces avermitilis. The compound demonstrated remarkable efficacy in eliminating parasites while being safe for use in animals, making it a breakthrough in veterinary medicine.

In the 1980s, ivermectin gained approval for human use and was soon recognized for its potential to treat parasitic diseases in people, especially in regions with high rates of neglected tropical diseases. It became widely used for treating onchocerciasis (river blindness) and lymphatic filariasis, two serious parasitic infections prevalent in tropical areas.
