What is Trust Rank in SEO?

TrustRank is also known as Authority is the trust of a website with the search engine. It is the index made by the technology of backlink analysis to find and remove webspam help search engines differentiate reputable websites. TrustRank has a 0 to 10 rating like PageRank, is favored by the search engine, and is more accurate than PageRank.

Google's trust factor is a combination of many factors that they use to apply a value of how trustful a site is. The more trustful a site is seen the more likely its articles will be ranked higher on specific Google searches. Some factors that make a site less trustful are that its seen as a harmful and/or has low quality content.

"A website page with a high MozRank however huge MozRank-MozTrust dissimilarity more often than not performs inadequately in web search tools when it is contrasted against a site page and a lower MozRank yet littler MozRank-MozTrust uniqueness." I've discovered that MozTrust (and Majestic SEO's TrustFlow) nearly corresponds to higher rankings.

TrustRank is a link analysis technique described in the paper Combating Web Spam with TrustRank by researchers Zoltan Gyongyi and Hector Garcia-Molina of Stanford University and Jan Pedersen of Yahoo!. The technique is used for semi-automatic separation of useful webpages from spam.

Trust rank is a measure of how helpful your website is in answering questions and providing specific information on a topic or industry. It is a combination of smaller ranking factors (found below) that add up to Google trusting your website for the best answers.
