What is the difference between On Page SEO and Off Page SEO?

What i learned that On Page Optimization means optimizing your website and making changes on title, meta tags, site structure, site content, solving canonicalization (sometimes standardization or normalization) problem, managing robots.txt etc.
Off Page Optimization means optimizing your web presence which involves back-link building and social media promotion.

On page SEO:
Headings
- Title of the page
- Meta description and tags
- Image and pictures
- URL structure and domain information
- User-friendly navigation and quick loading
- Fresh and quality content
- Optimized external and internal

Off page SEO:
- Link building
- Social media marketing
- Social bookmarking

On-Page SEO means the optimization techniques which are being done within / for the website. For example: keyword research, content writing, internal linking, sitemap.xml, robots.txt, Google webmaster tool, Google analytics, meta tags, h1, title and alt tags in HTML codes etc.

Off-Page SEO means the optimization which is done off the website. It usually includes Link-building in Directories, Social bookmarking, Forums, Blogging, Blog Commenting, Article submissions, Press release submissions, Infographic submission etc.

Both On-Page and Off-Page SEO are important for any website.
