Cricket fielders follow Powerplay limitations that regulate the positioning of fielders beyond a specific 30-yard boundary circle during the game. The standards organizations implement this limitation in both ODIs and T20s to boost the performance level and decrease delays in matches.
Purpose of Powerplay:
Fast batting opportunities occur when boundary fielders stay few during this time.
After this moment, the cricket team gains strategic pressure, which helps them acquire the first wickets.
Powerplay Rules in Different Formats:
In ODIs (50 Overs):
Powerplay 1 (Overs 1–10):
A maximum of two fielders can position themselves beyond the 30-yard circle during the game duration.
Powerplay 2 (Overs 11–40):
Up to 4 fielders outside the circle.
Powerplay 3 (Overs 41–50):
Up to 5 fielders outside the circle.
