What is meta refresh tag, should we use it?

I have never heard before about 'Meta Refresh Tag'. Thanks for the information the tag that will refresh or redirect the page to other page after certain amount of time.
It seems me strange to see that you have put up the question and also gave the answer yourself.

The Meta Refresh is a meta http-equiv tag and It will cause the visitor's browser to load a new web page after a specified of seconds have passed after the initial document has loaded, basically redirecting the visitor to the new page.

Well, I have never heard of meta refresh tag either. I learned something new. That's always a good thing. I'm very familiar with a 301 direct. So, they both yet the same result.

The META Refresh tag is used to automatically refresh the webpage after a set period of time. This is not advisable as doing so tends to disorient users. Some sites still use this though like news sites where the page refreshes after a time with updated content.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

It's a old html technology before implement AJAX . The website is refreshing and opening total webpage again. Surely use it in meta tag.
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="30"> Means per every 30 seconds automatically refreshing it. The cricinfo website is the best example for this website.
