Well this pretty much sums it up. Good job. Yes the biggest thing i think one has to remember is that graphic design always comes to to resolving a probblem, so as others say its a design solution in today's world. I would also like to add that it is also itself , with its multiple facets like typography or photo editing , to video editing form of art and a way for some simply to express themselves. If you look it up in wikipedia , the cave man drawings were considered a form of graphic deign and that was somebody expressing themselves and recording their history or telling a story. It was a social and cultural motivation. I think to but a definition on graphic design as a whole is equivalent to describing the earth on one sentence. It is just too dynamic.
