Citation Flow refers to the number of backlinks your site got. Citation Flow Score between 0 and 100 which helps to measure the link equity or "power" the site or link carries. Citation flow is used in conjunction with "Trust Flow". Citation flow also called the popularity of a link in a site without considering the quality of these links.

Citation flow is the number of outbound links you provide through your URL or website. higher the number of backlinks people obtain from your website, higher will be your citation or trust flow. This number of links on our website is also considered as an important consideration for SEO by the search engine in determining your domain authority thus in ranking you on the search engine result page.
 
Citation Flow is a number of predicting how influential a URL might be based on how many sites link to it. Trust Flow is a number predicting how trustworthy a page is based on how trustworthy sites tend to link to trustworthy neighbors.
 
Two factors that create a Majestic flow metric algorithm are Citation flow and Trust flow

Citation flow is a factor that tell you the score of a URL with respect to how many sites link to it, whereas Trust flow tells you how trust worthy a URL is based on how trust worthy sites links to it.
