I was talking with my neighbor earlier today and she told me she has quit smoking. I was admittedly amazed seeing as she’s been a smoker since the early 1950s. I’m nothing but supportive of anyone who chooses to stop. I quit for a time and know how hard it is to give up. The really interesting thing is that as we talked about what made quitting hard, it was less about the cigarette and more about the other habits we associate with our smoking. It's a personal choice, in the end, I just hate when people try to make such a choice for others. I’ve gotten a lot of flak over the years for my smoking, got even more when I stopped though so the opinions of others on the matter are of no consequence to me anymore. Be supportive of someone’s choice or leave them be is where I stand.
