What is a AUTHOR tag ?

How to give credit to the person of company that made your website? You use the so called AUTHOR tag. There are also Content Management Systems (CMS) who will put the name of the actual person editing the page. If used like this, it is easy to find the right person who is responsible for a webpage.
 
It links your Google+ account to the website/webpage, that way Google knows who's authored what. Just like pagerank, they'll be an author rank so the better sites your on the better your account will perform.
 
It is a great new feature (I'm not sure if it is really new, I'm counting it as new as I only nee about it about six months ago) that actually brings me in more traffic as a lot of my articles are being linked to my Google+ account via this tag and they are ranking rather highly in Google. :) I'd say go for it, it takes about 30 seconds to implement it.
