Well, it depends how close they are to many. Don't like bad breath! But I generally tend to note their posture, if they are maintaing eye contact (as well as the intervals in which they break contact and look away) and for any sighn that they would rather be someplace else. All of this I can usually get before they even get to utter their first word.
