Optimal Length for Search Engines. Google typically displays the first 50-60 characters of a title tag, or as many characters as will fit into a 512-pixel display. If you keep your titles under 55 characters, you can expect at least 95% of your titles to display properly.
 
Limitation with these two tags arises in the context of its characters' length. As per the Google SERPs, the meta description and title tags character limit has been decreased 23% and 21%. So, now as per the new Google metadata, character limits is: 55 characters for title tags and 115 characters for meta description tags.
